Working Feedback presents ‘Tablets allow staff to give feedback on care homes.’

Nursing staff working for a major care provider can now give live feedback on their experiences of the service being provided in its homes and potentially raise concerns.

HC-One has launched an initiative to receive instant feedback about the quality of care and services being provided in its homes from residents, relatives and staff.

Using the tablets, residents, relatives, visitors and staff respond to a series of questions about their experience in the home, such as whether there was a positive atmosphere in the home and whether other colleagues were appropriately prepared for visitors.

It will also allow assessment of the level of staff support and engagement with residents and the home’s cleanliness, said the company.

Working Feedback presents ‘Eye Music Trust provides therapeutic experiences for Care UK residents.’

Care UK has teamed up with Eye Music Trust, a performance charity, to bring therapeutic workshops to more care homes in Greater London.

The partnership arose after the charity ran successful week-long workshops at some of Care UK’s care homes including; Heavers Court, Woodland Hall and Whitefarm Lodge.

Feedback from Care UK colleagues has been extremely positive. Sheila Peterson, activities coordinator at Heavers Court in Croydon, said: “The participants seemed to really enjoy making music as a group, rather than just listening to it.”

Nirmala Juggapah, manager at Woodland Hall, added: “The workshops had a very visible and positive effect. Participants had real pleasure in their faces and the music brought them out of themselves. Overall, it created a wonderful atmosphere in the home.”

Working Feedback presents – Homes show residents they care with online feedback system.

At the care homes business I lead, Four Seasons Health Care, we have been pioneering the use of technology to collect feedback that enables us to understand our residents’ day-to-day care experience.

I am encouraged that we have been recording satisfaction ratings averaging around 94% and we will work to push this higher, helped by the feedback.

We are equipping all 350 of our homes with iPads that are programmed with a satisfaction questionnaire and with space for additional comments. They are easy to use and giving feedback takes just a couple of minutes. The iPads are linked to bespoke software systems, which means at any time residents, their families, our staff and visiting professionals can tell us what they think about any aspect of our care and services. Their comments are transmitted in real time to the home manager and regional manager, who can immediately deal with any care issues or consider suggestions for improvements.

Working Feedback presents ‘Care home feedback reviews go online in Newport.’

The Think About Me: Good Care Guide is paying for more information about care homes to be added to an existing review website in an effort to boost feedback.

Referring to the new web service, she said good reviews on the site would need to be policed as much as bad reviews to prevent people from being misled.

“Everything has to be checked and double checked before its going to be a complete success I think.”

The project is funded by the Health Technology Challenge Wales Awards, a scheme which looks to technology to find solutions to health issues.

Tanya Strange, from the health board, said: “Residents and relatives will be able to leave feedback about the home and this will enable providers to respond quickly to that feedback.

Working Feedback presents ‘Comhairle frozen meals service coming to Lewis and Harris next month.’

Comhairle nan Eilean Siar is introducing the next phase of the pre-prepared frozen meal service in Lewis and Harris from April 2015.

The development of this service is on the basis of substituting the main meal preparation that service users currently receive. Service users will still be able to choose whether to have their main meal at lunchtime or tea time.  If service users have been assessed as requiring assistance with breakfast, this will also continue.

A representative from the Social and Community Services department will contact service users to arrange a time to visit. They will have sample menus and information sheets and will also be able to answer any questions.

Cllr Uisdean Robertson, Health and Social Care Committee chair, said: “The roll out of this meal service will re-distribute the time taken to prepare meals to enable other tasks and care time to be provided. We are committed to providing the best possible care for our older people, including providing tasty, nutritious meals. Feedback that I have received directly from those receiving community meals in the Uists has been extremely positive and complimentary of the service and quality of the meals.”
